This plant is in a 4" wide growers pot and sits about 12" high. Water them often enough to keep the soil lightly moist in spring and summer, and allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings in fall and winter. Fertilize areca palm plants with a time-release fertilizer in spring. This gives the plant most of the nutrients it needs for the entire season. Water regularly while letting the soil mix dry in the surface before watering again. Watering must be regular but limited, in order to not suffocate the plant's roots. You might say that watering every 2 or 3 days is often needed.
